The Innova DX Alien is a stable to overstable midrange with a ridged top and beadless bottom half. It feels wildly unlike to many discs in the past, which makes the name of this disc perfect. Throw it for those times when you want something that doesn't glide, gets stable quickly, and you want it to get down on a hyzer angle.
The flight path of the Alien is overstable whether thrown forehand or backhand. It's meant to be a disc that fights the wind, extra torque, and gets down quickly. If you're not happy with your approach disc of a Zone/Harp/Pig/Tactic/Toro this is a disc that won't fly quite like those. The Alien wants to land with a little more speed. This disc is great for short flex shots of under 150 feet. Throwing it more than 200 feet will require a lot of power.
DX plastic from Innova is a baseline blend. It's great because you're throwing this disc for accuracy and not distance. As the nicks, scrapes, and dings start to incorporate into this disc you'll gain a little extra touch with it and a hair more glide from it seasoning. Baseline is great because this is a touch disc you want for very technical utility shots.
The Innova DX Alien is a great disc. It's designed for utility shots that require carving up the course with little glide. You won't use this for every hole, but when you need the Alien you can rely on them to get down to Earth quickly.
